Rules in Decorating?
February 12th, 2008
The ongoing question… “Are there rules in decorating?” There are fewer rules than you think, aside from mixing styles like Country & Modern, decorating is simply a matter of preference. Although I do agree that tips or suggestions help to increase the flow of creative juices. That is what makes home decor fun and exciting. Learning tips and tricks from other people can jump start your own ideas and visions. Rod Works is the avenue for that.
In the above display I wanted to use black and white for a modern and dramatic look. The black accent is classy, yet the white is crisp and clean. The horizontal frame rod up top and the shelf on the bottom help to frame in the display. By creating a box around the grouping it makes everything look neat and orderly on the wall. The shelf consists of a variety if items that also fit the color scheme. The different heights allow for a collective look. The items are not all lined up in a row like soldiers. It appears more interesting this way.
Above is another display using the same type of products but for a table display.
